Reclaim
New studies show that workers in the U.S. feel that their job has a negative impact on their mental health. While this is due to a multitude of variables, the "office" environment hasn't exactly been a space where workers can thrive. I am designing an office space that draws on the positive benefits of biophilia and simulates the inevitable characteristic of nature to "reclaim". This concept adopts programmatic and architectural aspects adapted from some of the most efficient animal species on the planet to create a cohesive workplace environment, while immersing the user in a mentally positive green space.
concept.
The idea of applying this concept of the biophilic office is not a new one. This concept aims for a new route in this growing trend. “Reclaim” analyzes aspects of five efficient animal species and how they compare to five concepts of economic efficiency: Social, Productive, Allocative, Dynamic, and Scale. As we begin to organize these species into these groups, we can begin to break down the purpose of the concept and relay them into programmatic, architecture, materiality, etc.
